The Proguard system is a completely innovative idea that Rizoma has spent a lot of time researching and testing. Designed to protect your levers from unwanted contact, the Proguard shield is especially useful during track days and racing events. They say "rubbing's racing," but you certainly don't want to risk having your brake lever accidentally activated while you're riding.
The Proguard system also removes much of the air pressure applied to levers during riding. See pictures below.
